Final update before next JHQ shoot
Next week I have my second, and hopefully final, trip to Germany, where I am planning on getting the rest of my film shot. Since my first trip in December I have been working with the footage I had recorded on this trip so now think I know what works and what doesn’t, and what I need to film on this upcoming trip. I am planning on trying out some different things with a mid-2000’s camera I had picked up from my Grandad, the dated and very limited camera should be a good go between for the footage I’ve filmed and the archive footage I am planning on using, I think that it will be good for some textural interludes. I have also added some additional sounds to the second scene in my current draft, I felt that because the voice-over is now quite straightforward I need to punch up the score behind this voice-over. I played around with some kick drum sounds which ended up sounding like distant fireworks, which felt fitting as the field the Rugby Pavilion looks out over was where the annual bonfire night celebrations were, so I added a fireworks sample to the score which I think works nicely. I haven’t had a chance to update the voice-over recording just yet though, I will have to do this after my trip.
Here is my latest draft with the updated score:
I have also recently watched Ashes (2012), Apichatpong Weerasethakul which has given me some more visual inspirations; there is one moment in particular where the frame size – which up-until this point in the film has been at around 18:6 jumps up to a full screen, I think this will be a good way for me to get out of the small frame I am currently at.
