About Me

I’ve recently finished my MSc in Filmmaking and Media Art, for which I made my most recent project Leaving JHQ Rheindahlen Behind, a short experimental documentary which I made almost exclusively by myself – I shot it, edited it, put together the score, did all the pre-production planning, wrote and recorded the voice-over, managed the crowd-funding, made the rewards for the crowd-funding, all that. This was also mostly the case throughout my undergrad course where I made a few even shorter experimental documentaries, again largely by myself.

I don’t want this to be the case for my next project, another experimental documentary, this time about Capel Celyn and the surrounding area. I would like the project to be much more collaborative and intend to build a team of people who I can work with in all the different aspects of the film. I want to be as open to suggestions as possible and am willing to take the film in any direction, I don’t just want it to be another ‘film by Conor McBride‘ where a couple people helped me out here and there, I want it to be a real group project where everyone involved brought something to the process.

I’m currently based in Glasgow but will be in Barry at fairly regular intervals throughout the year so anyone based around those two spots I can easily meet up with in person during the pre-production process, anyone who isn’t we can just work something out online.

Below are two projects I think best represent the kind of thing I make and want to make – Leaving JHQ Rheindahlen Behind, and Spotted (a film I made in my undergrad with a score made by Cameron Crow). They are by no means perfect and I think watching them you’ll be able to figure out why I want to bring other people into my next film.
